Unfortunately, the planned installation of the new basketball backboards on the 21st July could not be completed as scheduled due to unforeseen issues with the existing equipment.

During removal, the original plywood backboards were found to have deteriorated significantly, with fixings failing as they were dismantled, confirming they had reached the end of their safe serviceable life. The old backboards have now been removed and disposed of.

To complete the project safely, bespoke mounting plates will now be manufactured to accommodate the new backboards, and replacement hoops will also be installed. Once these components are available, work will be completed as soon as possible.
