“Chapel View” Northwick Appeal Dismissed
We are pleased to report that the planning appeal concerning the proposed Gypsy and Traveller caravan site at land north of Northwick Road (appeal reference 6004905) has been dismissed by the Planning Inspectorate. The decision was issued on 25 June 2026. Planning permission is refused and the land remains in its current use.
The Parish Council objected to the original application and maintained its objection throughout the appeal. The Parish Council was represented in person at the hearing on 16 June, where it set out its concerns alongside other interested parties.
The Inspector’s decision turned principally on flood risk. Almost the whole parish lies within a high flood-risk area, and the Inspector concluded that residential use of this site could not be made safe against the risk of a breach of the coastal defences. We are grateful to the Environment Agency, whose representatives attended the hearing and gave detailed evidence on this issue.
This is a welcome outcome for the Parish and a reminder of why careful, evidence-based engagement with the planning process matters. The Parish Council will continue to monitor planning activity across the area and to make representations where appropriate.
We would like to thank everyone involved in supporting the Parish Council’s case.
