Morning Bird Survey Delivers New Site Record and Aerial Drama
/in News/by ClerkA short but lively bird count at a local farm brought a welcome mix of late‑summer migrants and resident species. A large flock of Blue, Great and Long‑tailed Tits moved through the copse, joined by several Willow Warblers and Chiffchaffs feeding up before migration.
The highlight was the explosive call of a Cetti’s Warbler – a new site record. Moments later, a Hobby swept across the fields, only to be chased off by determined Swallows.
In total, 27 species were logged, including Goldfinch (38), Barn Swallow (31), Canada Goose (16), Linnet (11), Greater Whitethroat (8) and a single Whinchat stopping over.
A vibrant morning for local wildlife and a promising sign of autumn migration picking up.
