Two Parish Councillors took part in SevernNet’s Transport meeting this morning which included two particularly important participants: Oxford Instruments and Ramboll, the consultancy currently exploring water‑management and drainage issues within the parish.

Across the discussion, every major transport concern affecting our communities was raised. The aim was clear: to ensure that the Parish’s needs remain firmly on the radar of organisations shaping movement across Portbury, Avonmouth and Severnside (PAS). The meeting also helped broaden SevernNet’s perspective, encouraging participants to consider the whole PAS area rather than focusing solely on Avonmouth. This wider view is essential if the region is to function more effectively and equitably for residents, workers and businesses alike.

SevernNet is planning a large PAS Transport Forum for the Autumn — potentially as a conference‑style event. Today’s contributions intended to encourage ambition and prevent the forum becoming a simple “talking shop”. The date is still to be confirmed, but the Parish Councillors will be strongly encouraged to attend. The session will focus on strategic transport issues that sit outside the scope of the Neighbourhood Plan, making it an important opportunity to influence long‑term thinking for the whole area.
