Alderman Peter Tyzack recently attended the SevernNet Business Breakfast held at the Panattoni warehouse.

Peter said the real value of events like this is the opportunity to meet and speak with representatives from local businesses and organisations.

During the event, Peter spoke with a representative from the WECA Mayor’s Office and stressed the importance of the parish being involved in the development of both the Growth Plan and Rail Plan. Discussions also covered local transport challenges, including the impact of poor transport links on job vacancies in the area.

Peter also raised the East of M49 land, known locally as the 1957 Land. He was told that the Environment Agency is currently opposed to the land being used for housing, although there remains interest from developers.

South Gloucestershire Council was also in attendance and confirmed that work remains on track for the M49 junction to be completed by the end of the year. The next stage will involve installing needle piles to stabilise the substructure and avoid previous issues with settlement on bridge approaches.

Peter also met people interested in supporting the Severnside Festival, describing the event as “a good start to the day.”
